Miracles happen everyday, change your perception of what a miracle is and you’ll see them all around you. –Jon Bon Jovi
Miracles Born of Devastation
It seems that when you watch the news or read the headlines in Google or Yahoo there’s only bad news. The media wants us to believe that humans are doomed as a race. That there’s no good left in the world. And we have nothing to be grateful for.
I disagree. I think we’re some of the most inspiring, creative and giving people. Just look at events over the last ten days. Since the first earthquake struck the Island Nation of Haiti on January 12, organizations have raised tens of millions of dollars through donations from ordinary people.
People who seem to be struggling themselves in the midst of what some believe to be a worldwide recession. Everyday people like you and me who texted our five or ten dollar donations to help bring aid and supplies to the country.
To help rebuild Haiti, world governments have already earmarked more than a billion dollars. And it’s not just that we’re able to raise this kind of money. It’s the outpouring of concern, caring and love that we’re showing from around the globe. It’s the volunteers, who board the planes and risk their own lives to be there and help.
It’s the fact that when we’re needed we come running, no matter who needs us. So there is plenty of hope for the human race. When out of such devastation comes such miracles, the miracle of love, the miracle of giving, the miracle of tapping in to our true potential.
Our Truest Nature
My only question is why does it take such devastation for us to display our truest nature? If we all tap in to the Universal Conscious-Intelligence (UC-I) to help our fellow brothers and sisters in time of need then why don’t we do it every day?
UC-I refers to the One omnipotent Universal Conscious-Intelligence that permeates throughout the entire universe. It is all knowing, all-powerful, all creative and always/all ways present. It’s referred to as the UC-I because you, me and everything else in the world is part of it.
As One, we are connected to each other and every single thing in this universe. I do believe this connection explains why we come together in droves in times of need. Because through our link to each other we all feel the pain and hopelessness and we want it to end.
According to Genesis, we were made in God’s image. This is the image that the bible refers to, not a physical image, but an image of UC-I for which nothing is impossible. As part of this UC-I, we have access to the limitless knowledge and creativity of God, Source, Jehovah, Allah, whatever name you choose. The UC-I of all things is present within us at all times in essence.
So it is our truest nature to show love and understanding. And to make sure that we thrive as a race. If you are one of the many millions that tapped in and felt the pain and devastation during this horrible event, I also ask you to tap in and see the miracles that came from the rubble.
This is what we need to hold on to. The miracles that are born out of such devastation are the driving force that will keep us thriving as a race. We need to tap into the UC-I and share in the miracles, not the fear, not the pain and not the devastation.
If we can all start to see the miracles that are attached to devastating events, then we’ll easily be able to see the miracles that happen around all of us everyday. Once that happens then we’ll no longer need such devastation for us to display our truest nature.
If you haven’t yet and can, please send your donation or volunteer to help. You’re guaranteed a miracle or two if you do.

First off while I do completely agree that there is little positive from the media. Negativity is universally understood and it grabs your attention and makes you pay close attention.
It has been said that we are born negative and only overcome it if we want to. Yet at the same time we usually very much fear showing our true nature.
The miracles of a devastation like this are when everyone compassion pours forth. For the common good and everyone lends a helping hand for another.
The other miracle is that when everything is rebuilt anew. It will be a new beginning for all and I feel that better things will come.
Thank you for this wonderful post, I love points you make. Especially the miracles born of devastation.

I’m in complete agreement with you. As of late, all one sees from media is the negative, and not enough of the positive. As a trained human service professional, this is not good for people. It makes them depressed and weary. We seen to have lost that “connection” so I’m so happy to see social sites. They may be “just what the doctor ordered.”
