Thank You for the Inspiration

Never under estimate the sheer power of simple gratitude. The split second it takes to say the two words thank you, is enough time to change lives. But unfortunately, those are two words that aren’t said much these days.

And when they are said, there isn’t much meaning behind them. They’re generally uttered with such indifference that they may as well not have been said at all. In difficult circumstances, it’s easy to lose sight of the good things and focus only on the difficulties.

But doing this only attracts more difficulties leaving you feeling less grateful and so the vicious cycle continues. Most of what you experience is all perception. If you perceive things to be difficult then they will be. In order to break this cycle you need to feel gratitude.

What are you grateful for? In order for gratitude to have any real significance, it needs to be linked to something meaningful. When feeling gratitude you should know what you are grateful for, your health, your family, your home, to have hope. These are all things that deserve gratitude.

Who are you grateful to? Did someone help you sometime in your life? We all have someone who’s made a positive impact on us. Be grateful to them. Without their input, advice or help things may have turned out much differently than they have.

Where are you now? Where you are now has everything to do with how you think and feel. If you find yourself in a constant state of negativity, feeling grateful can help you break out of it. It’s like shining a light in a dark alley all the vermin scatter. Negativity reacts the same way when exposed to the light of gratitude.

Why should you be grateful? I’ve heard this question quite a lot recently. People will ask me why should I be grateful? Then they go on to justify all the reasons they shouldn’t be grateful. Such as, I’m broke, out of work and have no job prospects, I’m loosing my house, and the economy is in the toilet and doesn’t look like it’s going to get better any time soon.. Amazingly enough, they just answered their own question.

All of the justifications are even more reason to be grateful to someone for something. Because feeling even the smallest amount of gratitude will change your perception. By changing your perception, you’ll change the choices you make. Better choices attract better circumstances and soon all those things that kept you from being grateful will be replaced with abundant offerings.

When should you be grateful? You should be grateful at all times in every situation. Years later, we all have situations that when we look back we laugh at how we handled it. Well, if you look for something to be grateful for at the time you can have a good laugh now and not wait years.

Beginning today, say a heartfelt thank you. Really feel it, because the time it takes to say those two little words is enough to change lives. And if you’re going to change a life, you may as well start with your own.

I’d like to say a big ol’ thank you to all of you who have read my blog, followed me on Twitter, friended me on Face Book and subscribed to my newsletter. You have all inspired me and I’m truly grateful for that.
