An affirmation is a carefully crafted statement. It should be written down and repeated to oneself frequently. An affirmation must be in present tense, positive, personal, and specific for it to be effective.

It must be repeated many times during the day. By repeating the affirmation, you engrain a new positive belief into your conscious mind replacing old negative beliefs. You must repeat it with passion, certainty and believe it will happen. You must also give it your undivided attention as you say it.

Many of us use affirmations everyday without even realizing it. Think about having to take a test or give a presentation and you’re nervous. You keep saying to yourself, “I can do this, I’m fine.” That’s an affirmation.

A good use for affirmations is to help stop negative thinking. Most of the time we devote our thoughts to negative situations and in time this will just bring about situations that are more negative.

And once the ball starts rolling we find ourselves so buried in negative energy that we can’t dig a way out. Affirmations help to clear a path. They break up some of the negative energy and allow some positive energy to flow.

By focusing more and more on the positive energy, things will start to change. You will begin a vibrational shift that will allow you to create positive situations. Your conscious mind will now be more focused on the new positive beliefs and discard the old negative ones.

We are a society looking for instant gratification. You can’t simply expect anything to change if you say an affirmation for a few minutes a day and then continue your negative thinking. Remember changing old habits can take lifetime if you let it. But, if you’re committed to making the change, it can happen very quickly. Results will come only as fast as you choose for them to.

Using Affirmations

To get the most benefit out of an affirmation you should first write it down. Make sure you use something that you can easily carry with you like a 3×5 card. Then repeat the affirmation to yourself several times during the day.

Be sure you’re in a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Affirmations can be most effective if you say them first thing in the morning before you get out of bed and last thing at night before you go to sleep. This is generally when you’re the most relaxed during the day.

Affirmations should be in the present tense not the future tense. Think carefully about what you’re really saying. Phrases like, “I will,” or “I’m going to,” imply that it will happen someday but not now. Instead, say things like, “I expect,” “I am,” “I allow,” or “I know.” These phrases imply now!

Choose positive words that address an issue that seems to be giving you the most stress. Describe exactly what you want. If you desire money, say something like, “Money flows easily and effortlessly to me. I’m prosperous in every good way. I use my abundance in a way that enhances my life and the lives of others.”

Affirmations are a very powerful tool. By figuring out what you do want and focusing on that, you can quickly change your vibrational energy to positive.

The more positive energy you send out the more positive things you’ll manifest into your life.
