What I’ve learned throughout this magnificent journey called life is that it’s okay to be a work in progress as long as you continue to progress. This journey is never ending, but as long as you keep moving forward, you’re heading in the right direction.
It’s only when you lock on to past events and hold on to them that you throw up roadblocks that stop you dead in your tracks. And that’s exactly what happened to me. Without ever realizing it, I spent the better part of my life stuck in the “IF ONLY” past, cultivating my self-limiting beliefs, and reliving my “life-story” over and over again.
As a child, I was the one that was always and I do mean always picked on and picked last for everything. Believe me when I say bullying in school is nothing new. I was most definitely bullied. I didn’t make friends easily and although I made good grades, I never felt smart, or worthy.
Then there was my mother, Rosemary. God bless her. Mom was very unhappy with the life she’d chosen, a perfectionist who had a need for power and was never satisfied with anything including me. I allowed my mother to make me feel that IF ONLY I’d been someone else, IF ONLY I’d been smarter, thinner, and prettier, I would have been perfect. But as I was…well that just wasn’t good enough.
So, like any good daughter, I did my best to please my mom and tried to become someone who was good enough. I never succeeded. Because of this, I had low self-esteem and almost non-existent self worth.
There are so many others out there doing exactly the same thing I did. They feel deep down something’s just not right. They don’t know why things aren’t better or different. All they know is that they’re stuck in an unhappy life unable to move forward no matter how hard they try.
They’re living lives made up of other’s expectations and desperately trying to be someone else to please those around them. Because, they feel, just like I felt, if they were to be who they authentically are…they wouldn’t be good enough.
They’re allowing their self-limiting beliefs to control them. These beliefs affect every single one of us in some way. But they’re nothing more than fictional thoughts or a series of fictional thoughts that are cultivated, nourished, and engrained into our core values over an entire lifetime. These beliefs aren’t based in fact regarding what we believe about our abilities and our self. Instead, they’re based on the limitations others place on us.
Just stop and think about that for a moment. The vast majority of us tend to live our lives based on what others believe, not what we truly believe. All because we feel if we were to be who we authentically are…we wouldn’t be good enough.
So, after a lifetime of hiding from bullies and desperately trying to be someone I’m not, I decided there had to be a better way. I simply knew deep down that life wasn’t supposed to be this way. So I began my journey. And through that journey I developed the Spiritual Freedom Process as a way to free myself of my “if only” past and self-limiting beliefs.
Using the Spiritual Freedom Process, I discovered a way to align myself with my Higher Source. And through this alignment, I’ve been able to free myself of the roadblocks that have held me back.
